Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy in Dallas Texas
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, also known as KAP, is an innovative and evidence based treatment that combines low dose ketamine with structured psychotherapy to support deep emotional healing. KAP is commonly used for treatment resistant depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and trauma related conditions.
Ketamine works differently than traditional antidepressants. Research shows it can produce rapid antidepressant effects, sometimes within hours or days. It supports brain plasticity and helps clients access thoughts, emotions, and memories with greater openness and clarity.
During a KAP session, ketamine is administered in a safe and controlled setting under medical supervision. Clients often experience increased insight, emotional release, and new perspectives. Throughout the process, the therapist provides a grounded and supportive presence to ensure safety and integration.
We incorporate evidence based approaches such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and somatic techniques to help process and apply insights gained during sessions. Integration therapy is a critical part of treatment and supports long term emotional growth and resilience.
How the KAP Process Works
1. Medical Evaluation with Journey Clinical
You will meet virtually with Journey Clinical’s medical team for a psychiatric evaluation. They will review your medical history, determine eligibility, and create a personalized ketamine treatment plan.
If approved, ketamine lozenges are prescribed and mailed directly to your home. You will receive instructions on how to safely self administer and monitor vitals.
2. Preparation Sessions
Before your first dosing session, we meet for one or more preparation sessions. These sessions focus on education, intention setting, and ensuring you feel safe and supported throughout the process.
3. Ketamine Dosing Session
Dosing sessions last approximately 1 to 2 hours and can take place in person in Dallas or remotely via telehealth in Texas.
You will self administer the prescribed ketamine lozenge while resting comfortably with an eye mask and calming music. Although much of the experience is internal, your therapist remains present the entire time for support.
4. Integration Therapy
After each dosing session, we schedule integration sessions to process insights, emotions, and memories that surfaced. Integration helps translate the experience into meaningful changes in daily life.
5. Ongoing Medical Follow Up
Journey Clinical provides quarterly medical follow ups to monitor progress and adjust prescriptions as needed.
