Love Roots Therapy focuses on the mental health needs of adults, adolescents, and couples. Our practice provides virtual and in person counseling sessions depending on the preference of our clients. Our team is dedicated to helping patients achieve and enhance their psychological and spiritual well-being by using a variety of psychological modalities.

Our counselors strive to meet our clients “where they are”. We provide an accepting environment using tools to help reframe and understand unconscious beliefs that keep us from moving forward. Our counselors work collaboratively with individuals to identify their goals, aspirations, and desired outcomes. We support individuals in developing strategies, action plans, and coping mechanisms to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. The counseling process aims to empower individuals, fostering a sense of agency and control over their lives.

ABOUT US

About Veronica Cerda, LPC

Love Roots Therapy was started by me, Veronica Cerda. I grew up in Dallas and always dreamed of becoming a counselor and creating a practice that helps individuals and couples with concerns and issues that have taken over their happiness. I grew up in a Mexican household where mental health was not believed to be something you sought help for. “You just have to get over it” was what I was told. When I went away to college, my outlook was expanded, and I sought counseling for myself.
At that point, I realized the benefits and ultimately, the results of being in therapy. Now as a counselor, I see my clients growing, healing, and overcoming obstacles they feared they would never overcome. It is the most rewarding feeling in the world and now my purpose is to continue this journey to help others.

About Stefan Waltke, LPC

Becoming a mental health counselor was a natural evolution for me, fueled by a genuine fascination with the intricacies of the human mind and a profound awareness of the repercussions of neglecting mental health. Delving into the complexities of psychology and observing firsthand the detrimental effects of overlooking mental well-being underscored the urgency and importance of this field for me. I am deeply committed to helping individuals navigate their inner landscapes, equipping them with the tools and insights needed to cultivate resilience and lead fulfilling lives.

About Ana Ponciano, LMSW

My journey is deeply rooted in my experience growing up in an Indigenous community in the South of Mexico. Witnessing the ripple effects of generational trauma within my community sparked a profound motivation in me. I felt a strong desire to pursue education and therapy as a way to help others navigate and heal from their own experiences of trauma. My work focuses on helping individuals confront their trauma through somatic and EMDR therapy approaches that I believe are crucial for deep and lasting healing. As a proud Mexican-American with Indigenous roots, my commitment to empowering people to reach their full potential is driven by personal experiences and desires to see others thrive. My journey is a testament to resilience, empathy, and unwavering dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of those that I serve.

About Summer Cartwright, LPC

I come from a rich heritage of Mexican, German, and Welsh immigrant families who made their home in the melting pot of South Texas. Growing up, I was surrounded by family cultures that didn’t believe in therapy, discouraged sharing emotions, and avoided discussions about family trauma. This background sparked my journey of self-discovery, personal therapy, and a deep commitment to understanding human behavior. Through earning three degrees in human behavior and training as a clinical therapist, I dedicated myself to mastering every theory, technique, and modality I could find to help people heal from family and generational trauma. My goal is to help you uncover your natural ability to self-regulate, build meaningful connections, and explore the parts of yourself that may have been hidden. Together, we’ll identify your core needs, find new ways to meet them, and help you become the most whole and fulfilled version of yourself.

I was born and raised in Brazil, where emotional expression and connection were deeply woven into the culture, yet mental health wasn’t always something we talked about openly. Growing up, I witnessed the unspoken struggles people carried—whether it was sadness behind a smile, tension within families, or the quiet ways that trauma shaped daily life. My path into therapy was fueled by both personal reflection and a strong desire to walk alongside others as they face life’s challenges. I specialize in working with individuals navigating eating disorders, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, and family dynamics. I approach therapy with a warm, grounded presence and a commitment to seeing each person as whole, even in their most vulnerable moments. For me, therapy isn’t about fixing—it’s about understanding. It’s about reconnecting to parts of ourselves that may have been pushed aside or forgotten. I believe in moving at a pace that feels right for each person and in creating a space where real, lasting change can unfold—gently, over time.

About Sarah Washington, LPC

Danya Qureshi, Administrative Assistant

As a South Asian, I chose to work in mental health because I’ve seen firsthand how mental health issues are often misunderstood or stigmatized in our community. Growing up, mental health wasn’t always openly discussed, and seeking help was sometimes seen as a sign of weakness or shame. I wanted to challenge that stigma and be part of a change where people in our culture can feel safe addressing their emotional well-being without fear of judgment. Many of us face unique struggles, such as balancing cultural expectations, navigating immigrant identities, and dealing with intergenerational trauma. I wanted to make sure people in the South Asian community feel understood and represented when they seek help, and that they know it’s okay to prioritize their mental well-being.
